Vice President of Programming
Taylor Heggen – Vice President of Programming
I joined GV PRSSA second semester of my junior year. After changing my major a few times, I had decided upon PR and Advertising but was unsure of which emphasis to choose. After attending my first PRSSA meeting, I knew that a career in public relations was the right path for me. That winter semester I attended many agency tours and almost all of the meetings and created great long-lasting friendships with other members in the Chapter. That passion for making connections, applying my knowledge from classes, being a PRSSA executive board member and working with GrandPR for two years have prepared me for my future as I graduate this April.
The Vice President of Programming is an important position for PRSSA. This position requires a high-level of interest in event planning, as well as staying organized, accepting constructive criticism, and being able to think outside the box. Being the Vice President of Programming is an important position because you are in charge of coming up with topics, planning activities, contacting speakers, and making sure that the meeting runs smoothly the day of. One of my main priorities when planning meetings is making sure that members are able to learn something new or take something away each time we meet. It is always best to be able to think on your feet and have a back up plan for each meeting because sometimes they don’t always work out as you had planned. Overall, I absolutely love my position and I would highly encourage anyone that is interested in event or meeting planning to apply for it!
